Laura Beals, PhD, is a Technical Program Manager at Manifold, where she works closely with our customers and the internal team to ensure that projects run smoothly—from managing scope and resources, to facilitating positive client interactions, to resolving non-technical blockers. She has written, presented, and taught about a variety of topics including data use and program evaluation in nonprofit organizations, technology for nonprofit data collection and use, data visualization, social network analysis, and participatory data analysis.

Prior to Manifold, Laura was the Director of the Department of Evaluation and Learning (DEL) at Jewish Family & Children's Services Boston, a social service agency. The DEL team was responsible for the agency’s client-level data for performance monitoring and evaluation, including the administration and implementation of the agency’s electronic client management systems. While at JF&CS, she also served as the Project Director for a three-year project to move from one data system to another; this included design and delivery for each of the forty services at JF&CS while providing support for over 200 staff. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.

Before JF&CS, Laura was Manager of Research, Evaluation, and Instructional Technology for Connected Beginnings at Wheelock College, a professional development training institute for early care and education providers. While at Connected Beginnings she oversaw the technology, data, and evaluation needed for training participants.

Laura has a BS in Engineering, as well as a PhD and a MA in Applied Child Development, all from Tufts University.
