Dr. Demba Ba has recently expanded his collaboration with Manifold as an Advisor of Deep Learning Methods. Demba is an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Bioengineering at Harvard University. He will be spending his sabbatical semester collaborating more closely with the Manifold team.
Demba's specialties include computational neuroscience, signal processing, and network science. In his advisory capacity, he will contribute to Manifold and our clients on problem scoping and algorithm design and development for problems that require signal processing solutions.
At Harvard, Demba advises postdocs, PhD students, and undergraduates, helping them to ask good questions in order to find the best solutions to problems. This unique skill, when combined with his expertise in signal processing and deep learning techniques, makes Demba a highly valued advisor and contributor to our work.
“What is exciting to me is the opportunity to contribute to impactful problems, working with smart people in an intellectually supportive environment,” he says.
Demba earned his PhD and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland. He is the author of multiple publications and the holder of a patent for room modeling using sound source localization. He was a 2016 Fellow in Neuroscience of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
